This Inca sun salt comes from the highlands of the Peruvian Andes (also called Andean salt). It is still extracted in the same way as in the time of the Incas. The saltwater from a very salty spring near Machu Picchu is led through an approximately 1500 meter long terraced basin. In the basin, which is only 10 centimetres deep. the salt is formed by the sun until it has dried up enough to be extracted. This Inca salt is a delicacy just like the Fleur de Sel. Particularly remarkable is the high purity of the spring water with which the basins are Because the spring originates at an altitude of 3000 meters far from all industries, this is particularly pure salt, Inca salt is a classic culinary enrichment.
