Frequently asked questions:

1 Stevia
1.1 Is stevia safe to use?

Yes. The sweetener from the plant Stevia, or steviol glycosides, can contribute as a sugar substitute to a healthy diet. In addition, it has been evaluated as safe by the EU. Stevia is a safe sweetener. It has been an approved substance in the European Union since 2011. That is why it has been given an E-number (E960). Stevia sweetener is rich in vitamins and minerals. Stevia sweetener contains vitamins A, B3, C, calcium, chromium, phosphorus, sodium, magnesium, zinc and rutin. Further information can be found in the blog of Naturaplaza and can be found on numerous technical publications on the internet.

1.2 What can I use Stevia for?

Stevia can be used in many forms. The stevia sweeteners can be used in various cold and hot drinks. The stevia powder and the liquid stevia (stevia fluid) can be used as a new sweetener in recipes for example: baking a cake, making ice cream and so on.

1.3 Can stevia products be used during a candida diet?

Yes, Stevia products can be used extremely well during a Candida diet.

1.4 What is the difference between stevia and a sweetener like aspartame?

Aspartame and neotame are artificial sweeteners in contrast to stevia, which is 100% extracted from the stevia plant.
Another important difference is that stevia is well suited for baking and cooking because stevia is heat-stable even at higher temperatures and does not lose its sweetening power.

1.5 Is aspartame or neotame unhealthy?

Neotame is the successor of aspartame and has been introduced because the patent of aspartame is almost expired. Neotame is a white odourless powder and can be used to sweeten food. Unlike stevia, it is not a natural product. Neotame has been named E-961. There is a lot of medical evidence about the negative effects of both sweeteners.

2 Stevia products
2.1 What does the indication "rebA 95%" mean on the packaging of products?

“ Reb" stands for Rebaudioside, the sweet component from the leaves of the stevia plants. The A stands for the type of sweetener used and is extracted from the leaves by an extraction process. The number 95% stands for the purity and the percentage of sweetener.

For example, there is rebA97% and rebA98%. The higher the percentage, the sweeter the taste. However, the price of the product will also increase proportionally.

The same percentages are used for steviol glycosides, also a species within the group of steviol glycosides.

2.2 What is inulin?

Inulin occurs in (the roots of) plants that grow in moderately cold areas. Some examples are chicory, Jerusalem artichoke, dahlia, dandelion and salsify.

Inulin belongs to the prebiotics. Prebiotics are substances that are indigestible and arrive unchanged in the large intestine. There they selectively stimulate the growth and activity of bacteria in the large intestine. These bacteria set the intestines in motion and can, therefore, have a beneficial effect on the bowel movement. Furthermore, these bacteria produce B vitamins, but also substances that feed the intestinal wall. Prebiotics has a slightly different effect on the intestine than probiotics.

The good functioning of the intestines is important for your health and resistance. Inulin can help maintain a good intestinal flora.

2.3 Can the products also be picked up at Naturaplaza?

Yes, by appointment you can pick up your order at our warehouse in Hengelo ov

2.4 Why is there isomalt in the stevia sweetener?

Isomalt is a raw material of natural origin and is used to make the tablets compact and to neutralize the naturally present bitter taste of Steviol glycoside.

It is a polyol used mainly for its physical properties. The product has only a small influence on blood sugar levels, does not lead to tooth decay, and contains half as much energy as ordinary sugar (sucrose).

2.5 What is sodium bicarbonate?

Sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate is also called baking powder and is used to dissolve the sweeteners in a liquid.

Sodium bicarbonate is a very natural substance because the raw material is rock salt. By a certain process (electrolysis) sodium carbonate is created.

In contact with liquid, the sodium bicarbonate is converted and CO2 gas (the pop in lemonade) is produced, causing the sweetener to dissolve slowly.

2.6 What is tartaric acid?

Tartaric acid occurs naturally in many fruits, such as grapes and grapefruits. It is added to food for its preservative properties.

2.7 What is magnesium salt?

Magnesium salt is produced from salt layers in the soil. No foreign substances are added to magnesium salt, making it a completely natural and safe product.

2.8 What is a gluten allergy?

Gluten is a mixture of proteins found naturally in certain cereals such as wheat, rye, spelt, Kamut and barley. When a person with a gluten hypersensitivity does eat gluten, the intestinal mucosa is damaged. This leads to all kinds of annoying complaints. By completely omitting gluten from the diet, many of these complaints disappear. It is estimated that 1 in every 100 to 200 people in the world has a gluten allergy (celiac disease).
